Sitka Louisa (DK)
Perceval
About the performance
Four dancers move organically with and opposite each other in breathtaking sequences of circles and spirals that emerge in interplay with live video projections. It is like looking through a prism, where the various elements are split into diverse colors where a complex mixture of sensory impressions and moods arises.
Choreographer Louise Mochia is fascinated by Hilma of Klint’s series of paintings, “Parsifal”, from 1916, which has been the inspiration for the performance. Louise sees a parallel between the many people in our part of the world who have a strong focus on identity and self-realization, and the liberation of modern man around the year 1900. With the series, Klint examines the theme ‘counterpoints’ as an expression of a symbolist way of thinking about the modern human being, its consciousness and development: A search for a place in the world. And it is a theme that is very much relevant to us today. Topics such as equality, gender equality and equilibrium are still relevant.
Perceval means “through this valley” and is at the same time a reference to the mythical tale of the Grail knight Parsifal, who was immortalized in an opera by Wagner.
The audience will experience delicate costumes by Elisabet Stamm, original music by Stine Steendorph and Sven Dam Meinild, video projections by My Lambertsen / SLØR and light by Christoffer Lloyd.
