The artistic advisory board

The artistic advisory board at Bora Bora advises, challenges and gives perspective to the theatre’s work in curating Bora Bora’s programme and residency centre based on Bora Bora’s overall goals.

The members of the artistic council are selected by the theatre director based on the following competencies:
– Extensive experience and outlook in the field of dance and visual theatre
– Qualified view of diversity in an artistic and intersectional sense
– A practice that involves seeing many performances, Danish and international
– Understanding of Bora Bora’s framework conditions and audience
– Good collaboration skills

Members join the council on a one-year contract with a revolving replacement, with a new person joining the council each year. The council meets three times a year with the theatre manager and programme producer.

In season 23-24, the artistic council consists of:
– Samme Raeymaekers (BE), artistic director of Dansens Hus in Oslo
– Sigrid Aakvik (NO), head of the Nordic agency Art & About in Aarhus

Producer for the artistic council is Jeppe H. Nissen.

The overall content of the meetings is:

May:
– Selection of artists based on open call from Bora Bora Residency Centre
– First discussion of proposals for co-productions and guest performances for the season starting in August the following year
– Discussion of new formats for festivals and screenings

October:
– Review of all new proposals for co-productions and guest appearances for the season starting in August of the following year
– Presentation of ideas from the members of the artistic council

December:
– Prioritisation of the overall programme of co-productions and guest appearances for the season starting in August the following year
