Kristján Ingimarsson Company (DK)
Liberty
The physical firecracker Kristján Ingimarsson invites you on a cacophonous journey through his wildest, most important, worst and funniest performances. A celebration of 25 years of unbridled creativity as an unrelenting driving force in the search for the original idea. Is there a point to the madness?
“LIBERTY” is a performance about the pursuit of the original idea with creativity as the driving force, about the desire to express oneself and the need to be true to the original idea. About art, playfulness and an unrestrained approach to reality.
“LIBERTY” is a cacophonous journey through Kristján Ingimarsson Company’s wildest, most important, worst and funniest performances, but also an attempt to find the meaning behind the madness. Why did it turn out the way it did? And how did we get there?… Where did it all come from, is there any more to give and can the world make any use of it at all?
“LIBERTY” is the ultimate attempt to explain itself. Whether it succeeds is another matter, because as Kristján Ingimarsson himself says:
“The common thread has never really been my cup of tea. It’s something I use once in a while to glue my thoughts together so people can follow along. It’s the ideas that count. I create performances that appeal to the heart, stomach and abdomen. I am passionate about entertaining, surprising and doing the impossible. The audience is creative and it is they themselves who create the final result.”
The show takes the audience on a journey through scenes from “MIKE ATTACK”, “Blowjob”, “BLAM!”, “CREATURE”, “Fools Of The World Unite”, “MORPH” and “ROOM 4.1”.
Besides being a “greatest hits” trip, “LIBERTY” is also an experiment in itself. A performance machine that morphs endlessly in a recreated scenography from the show “Blowjob”, where a large drawer system comes to life and magically takes on new forms, merging with and challenging the performers.
“LIBERTY” is not to be understood, but experienced. Every trick in the book is used to impress, manipulate, provoke and entertain the audience. True to Kristján Ingimarsson Company’s slogan: “Less is more…but more is much more.”
Kristján Ingimarsson Company (DK) has previously performed at Bora Bora with the successful show “BLAM!”.
PLEASE NOTE: The performance is a very physical performance, but the spoken parts are in Danish.

About Kristján Ingimarsson Company (DK)
Kristján Ingimarsson Company (DK) is an award winning, world-touring physical theatre company under the artistic direction of Kristján Ingimarsson, a critically acclaimed Denmark-based Icelandic performer and director. Characteristic of the company’s productions is their almost limitless physical expression along with endless curiosity.
Kristján Ingimarsson is a multiartist in the field of visual theatre. He is full of surprising and comic figures. His physical language is in constant development in a blend of mime, slapstick, acrobatics, clowning, dance and theatre. Stylistically, his theatre is characterized by high-energy, rhythmic sequences, surreal effects and comic as well as touching moments.
Ingimarsson’s performances typically take their starting point in twisted thought experiments about modern civilization in which a thesis is developed in flights of fancy into extremely funny insanity. Every performance is a new experiment, and a result of a close collaboration between artists from different disciplines such as architecture, the visual arts, music, films, dance and digital media. Ingimarsson is known as a sublime performer, but his work covers a wider spectrum. In recent years he has worked as a director of a number of site-specific projects in Denmark and Iceland, as well as created a series of ensemble works.
