Artistic advisory board

The Artistic Council at Bora Bora advises, challenges and puts the theatre’s work in curating Bora Bora’s program and residency center into perspective based on Bora Bora’s overall goals.

The members of the artistic council are selected by the theater director based on the following competencies:
– Extensive experience and vision in dance and visual theater
– Qualified view on diversity in an artistic and intersectional sense
– Practice that involves seeing many performances, Danish and/or international
– Understanding of Bora Bora’s framework conditions and audience
– Good collaboration skills

Members join the council with a two-year contract. The council holds two to three annual meetings with the theater manager and the program producer.

In the 2025-2027 season, the Artistic Council consists of
– Birgit Berndt (DE), Festival Director and Artistic Director of CODA festival in Oslo, Norway
– Kylie Walters (AU) , Theater Director and Artistic Director of Théâtre Sévelin in Lausanne, Switzerland

Producer for the Artistic Council is Jeppe H. Nissen.

The overall content of the meetings is:

March:
– Selection of artists based on open call from Bora Bora Residency Center
– Discussion of proposals for co-productions and guest performances for the season starting in August the following year
– Discussion of international focus in upcoming seasons
– Discussion of festival programs

November:
– Final prioritization of the overall program of co-productions and guest performances for the season starting in August the following year
