Ottavia Catenacci (ITA/DK) - Gossip Body
Gossip Body is the dance of a body that harbours memories, fantasies and secrets, suspended between fiction and reality. Contemplating the historical evolution of the term gossip, the research embraces storytelling as a practice of alliances, drawing on human relationships as material for composition. The encounters are collected in scenes and characters that dance stories inspired by the words exchanged, the moments shared with friends, family and strangers.
Ottavia Catenacci, dancer and choreographer, graduated in 2019 with a BFA in Scenography from the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino. In 2022 she obtained a BFA in Dance and Choreography from the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen. She performed for Masako Matsushita, Maria Francesca Guerra, Samuel Feldhandler, Snorre Elvin, Renan Martins, Matija Ferlin, Iván Pérez, Doris Uhlich and Aske Thiberg. She is currently attending an MFA in Choreography at the Danish National School of Performing Arts.
Magalí Camps (ES/DK) - Double You Single View
Double You Single View is a choreographic solo centred around the investigation of voice and corporeality to unfold devices of representation and thought. By subtly combining casual intonations with minimal melodies, eventually transforming them into song, a line is drawn between music, speech and outcry. The inseparability of body and voice reveals itself as the inseparability of sound and matter. An acoustic narrative spills out. A dance appears as a body that recalls stories of the past.
Magalí Camps is a dancer and performer based in Copenhagen and Stockholm. She graduated in dance and choreography from The Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2022 and has since worked with Cullberg and choreographers such as Alma Söderberg, Halla Ólafsdóttir, Jeanine Durning, Doris Uhlich, Renan Martins and Matija Ferlin. Her artistic work explores the intersection of voice and language with concepts of intimacy and performance. Seeking friction between the sensorial and symbolic, she deals with the line drawn between music and speech.
Charlie Laban Trier (DK/NL) - Surfacing Hypokrisia
The call for HypoKrisia happens through rumors. “We” need to whisper in corners about her, shaping myths through gossiping. The authorized channels will not tolerate such altered stories. Her stories change as they pass from tongues to ears through mouths. We pretend to speak her into form, but she’s total make-believe, that’s her elusive power – slippery and inconsistent. She lies beneath the surface as formless matter – forgotten and erased before she comes into solid existence.
Charlie Laban Trier, born 1987 in Copenhagen, based mainly in Amsterdam. Charlie is a dancer and choreographer. He graduated in 2018 from SNDO – bachelor in choreography. He previously holds diplomas from Hotstepper and Flow’s dance education, Copenhagen 2011/12. He’s a member of Jacuzzi – an artist-run space in Amsterdam where dance/performance and other time-based media swim together. His dance background stems mainly from dances connected to house music. The base of movements and technologies towards dance is rooted within and because of these scenes. Living as a transperson, is further a big Teacher in his thinking/approach to work. He thinks of transness as a technology that helps him craft and complicate material.
Charlie thinks of dance as a slippery matter, and a joker that can instantaneously inhabit many images, seducing its viewers while cheekily sliding out of shape.
The creation of “Short & Sharp” has been made possible with funding from a major strategic development project called “Task Force”, donated by the Bikuben Foundation and the Nordic Culture Fund.
