Bora Bora is Theater of the Year

At a festive celebration in Skuespilhuset on Saturday evening, Bora Bora was the first theater in Jutland to receive the Reumert Award as Theater of the Year.

The award is a very special prize given to a professional theater or performing arts company in Denmark that has made a name for itself this season. The recipient of the Industry Award Theater of the Year is chosen by Danish Theatre’s member theaters, who nominate and vote on who gets the award.

The justification reads:
“Theater of the Year has shown what happens when a sustainable work environment goes hand in hand with an insatiable commitment and an eternally curious approach to art.

Just two years ago, Theater of the Year decided to turn their entire strategy on its head. With a focus on talent development, transparency, well-being and strengthening their artistic profile, Theater of the Year has undergone a significant development. One that is felt behind the curtain, on stage and in the audience rows.

Theater of the Year is not just a theater for their own stage. Quite the opposite. They look beyond the four walls of the house with one purpose: to strengthen dance and visual theater in their smiling hometown. For their enormous passion and will to insist that dance should be for more people and take up more space, Bora Bora is awarded the Industry Award – Theater of the Year 2025.”

Lotte Kofod Ludvigsen, Creative and Executive Director at Bora Bora, says about the award:
“We are over the moon after a festive evening in Skuespilhuset. We are moved to win the Theater of the Year award, because it was motivated by the results of our strategy process over the last two years, where we have transformed the entire theater so that we now welcome significantly more guests and give artists better conditions.

Therefore, we would especially like to thank our brave audience, who always listen intently and accept all challenges with enthusiasm. We would be nothing without the audience and the fantastic artists we get to work with.

A heartfelt thank you to all the generous artists, especially our house companies Don Gnu, Himherandit, Mirko Guido and dadadans”.
