Ann-Christin Kongsness (NO) & Olympia Bukkakis (AUS/DE)
Artist Talk: Drag as Practice, Method & Medium
Ann-Christin Kongsness / Drag King Robin (MINORITY MAN) and Olympia Bukkakis (UNSEX ME HERE) in a conversation about drag.
The event is FREE, but you must book a ticket via the ‘buy ticket’ link at the bottom of the screen. Unnumbered seats.
Join drag artist and choreographer Ann-Christin Kongsness and drag queen/choreographer Olympia Bukkakis for an artist talk on contemporary drag as an artistic and critical practice. Working across drag, choreography, and performance art, both artists approach drag not only as representation, but as a method for thinking, moving, and making meaning with the body.
Starting from their respective practices – including Minority Man and Unsex Me Here – the conversation will focus on drag as a medium: How drag produces knowledge, how it intersects with contemporary dance and somatic practices, and how humor, excess, ritual, and satire operate as tools for resistance and transformation. Together, they will discuss drag as lived practice, as political gesture, and as a space for imagining other ways of being in the world.
The talk will touch on questions of power, vulnerability, community, care, and futurity – asking what contemporary drag can offer beyond the stage, and how it continues to evolve within queer and artistic contexts today.
Hosted at HeadQuarters, the talk invites you to sit back, have a drink, and let the night’s ideas take shape.
