Joint Steps Toward a Shared Vision

Dansenet Denmark: Pre-Project

Since 2023, Aaben Dans, Dansehallerne, and Bora Bora have worked closely together to foster the national development of dance structures. The partners collaborate on curation, co-production, and presentation of the format “Open Laboratory on Tour” and the performance Ripe Body by Ruth Rebekka Hansen.

In 2025, we began operating under the name Dansenet Denmark, working toward the ambitious vision of establishing a national framework to strengthen and expand the foundations for the development, production, and presentation of dance.

With a grant of DKK 195,000 from the Augustinus Foundation, we will explore how and with whom a future Dansenet Denmark can best support the dissemination and development of dance.

Specifically, the pre-project will:

  • Provide supplementary data for a baseline assessment of the development of dance
  • Engage dance artists, contemporary dance organizations, and potential presenting venues/theatres with limited experience in dance in new, concrete collaborative models across artistic development, production, presentation, and touring
  • Draw on Nordic experiences from Dansenet Sweden and Dansenet Norway
  • Outline a shared national flagship initiative with a collaborative network and a programme of activities designed for long-term sustainability beyond the project period—ensuring a lasting improvement of the dance ecosystem in Denmark
