Champions/Mass Effect
“Champions” and “Mass Effect” are two contrasting performances about psychological and physical states of endurance and resilience. From the deeply emotional impact of “Champions” to the joyous energetic release of “Mass Effect”, this double program will have you on the edge of your seat.
About the performance
Champions and Mass Effect are two contrasting performances that explore the psychological and physical states of endurance and resilience.
“Champions” is a performance installation where the fine lines between intimacy and wrestling are exposed. Inanimate objects come to life and atmospheres shift as one individual faces the challenges of being. Themes of homosexuality, family and home are revealed in this deeply moving performance installation.
In “Mass Effect” trainers squeak as feet pulse into the floor and bodies thrust across the stage. In this high impact performance seven athletic dancers share their breath, sweat, formations, and rhythms and collectively face one single challenge: to surpass physical limitations and transcend together into unknown territories of bodily capacity. In “Mass Effect” 20 extras join the dancers on stage for the last 15 minutes of the show. Together the cast and extras form a team of 27 persons that bring the performance to a climactic ending.
From the emotional impact of “Champions” to the joyous energetic release of “Mass Effect”, this double program engages audience and has them at the edge of their seats.
“Champions & Mass Effect” were nominated for a Danish National Theatre Award (Reumert Award) in the category of best performance 2020 and Mass Effect was nominated for Scenekunstprisen that same year
