Every Body Electric
PART OF DET FRIE FELTS FESTIVAL

In the work Every Body Electric, the world-renowned Austrian choreographer and performer Doris Uhlich works with her own archaeological approach to the performing arts, in which each performer has to “dig” deep inside themselves and get in touch with the energy that the body contains and produces. This energy and transformation can then be transmitted on stage. The three performers all have physical disabilities and use various physical aids. A wheelchair and crutches become an extension of their own bodies on stage. The performers move to electronic beats, rock music or silence. The bodies, the wheelchair and the crutches dance. Each person’s individual movement pattern comes from within and tells a story about each individual’s memories and experiences. The work seeks to destabilise normative ideas and notions about physical capacity, energy and power, and represents a challenge to ableist structures.
Non-verbal performance.
There is a 30-minute artist talk on stage following the performance.
