June 12th and 13th, 2023 - 19.30

"HØST" (HARVEST) is a sensuous work about the relationship between two professions: agriculture and dance; people and soil. The smell of grass will hang in the air, and the stage will, like a giant vibrating speaker, send music into the dancers' feet and out to the audience.

Presented in cooperation with IETM Aarhus 2023.

Venue: Bora Bora

In “HØST” (HARVEST), two performers, with different traditions – a contemporary dancer and a neo-flamenco dancer – personify questions about body and profession in a scenography that incorporates land and living crops on stage. This creates a framework that juxtaposes the professions of dance and agriculture with the working body, and forms a bridge between their different journeys and experiences.

“I am interested in the bodily knowledge that lies in working with the body in both dance and agriculture”, says choreographer Tina Tarpgaard: “As a child I grew up on a farm in West Jutland. The peasant culture I come from and the culture I live in as an artist today both support and collide with each other within me. Collisions that certainly affect me both as an artist and as a person. Eg. I became a bit of a “pawn” myself during recoil’s earlier project “THE MEMBRANE PROJECT”, where we, among other things, worked with algae and mealworms.

“HØST” is a co-production between the award-winning choreographer Tina Tarpgaard/recoil performance group and Rooms of Resonance, and was developed with inspiration from the parishes of Stadi-Vedersø, where Tarpgaard’s family originally comes from. Based on meetings with citizens, the process behind “HØST” has explored the knowledge and movements associated with agriculture and juxtaposed them with the dancer’s professionalism and work. The photographer Fryd Frydendahl has followed this work, which has become a photo publication that is available in connection with the performance.

Presented in cooperation with IETM Aarhus 2023.

Please note: The seats for this performance are unnumbered.
