Interview Salon Hilde Sandvold & Phillippe Saire
Art Salon VISION // Hilde Sandvold in conversation with Philippe Saire
In collaboration with Bora Bora Dance & Visual Theater, the Bikuben Foundation presents a salon with choreographer and dance artist Hilde Ingeborg Sandvold in conversation the Swiss choreographer Philippe Saire, director of Compagnie Philippe Saire. The conversation is moderated by journalist Tore Leifer.
Hilde Sandvold is a unique choreographer, unafraid of using humor or clichés but always in a clear and stringent framework as absurd and strange as it is appealing, inspiring and rewarding. Her innovative approach to dance and choreography draws inspiration from diverse fields, including the martial arts.
Hilde Sandvold investigates the physical limits and potential of the body – the tension between full control and full speed. Her work is a process of continuous development, and includes physical acts linked to the entire cognitive spectrum of human existence – movement, speech, memory, coordination and speed – using a method she calls ‘sensing, doing and coordinating.’ Her articulate approach to choreography results in works that blow the audience away with the sheer capacity and power of their physicality.
The Bikuben Foundation’s Artistic Practice program has selected Hilde Sandvold based on her artistic talent and the promising nature of her work. As part of the Artistic Practice program, the goal of the VISION salons is to explore the uniqueness and potential of individual approaches to art. Each salon presents an artist in dialogue with an expert in their field of their own choosing.
The conversation between Hilde Sandvold and Philippe Saire is at Bora Bora from 4-5 pm on November 11th. The salon will be held in English.
