About the performance

With film, animation, performance and experimental electronic music, Olga Szymula has created a work in the form of an intimate transition ritual inspired by Japanese culture and the novel The Woman in the Dunes by Kobo Abe. An incredible tale about a person who lives alone in a deep sand pit with the sole purpose of life to move sand – until the moment when the meaning of that life suddenly becomes uncertain. Fascinated and amazed by the narrative, Ola Szymula has constructed his own narrative with a rewriting of the novel, inviting the audience to an individual immersive experience filled with sound, image, presence and space.
