Dear human

It is with great anticipation that we extend this invitation to you. We thank Genderhouse festival for hosting us and recognizing the importance of furthering understanding between humans and vampires.

This informal meeting presents an opportunity for us to bridge the gap that separates us, to dispel misconceptions, and to hopefully build a foundation of mutual respect and understanding.

Throughout history, you have both fetishized and vilified us, depicted us as monsters, killers and carriers of disease.
But what lies behind the myths and prejudice? We invite you to join us as we engage in open dialogue, share our stories. It is time to move beyond the confines of fiction, out of the coffin and embrace the reality of our shared existence.

We look forward to seeing you

A deep dive into the rich and bloody archive of vampire fiction and stories as a queer figure and fantasy. The vampire has long been a queer icon, and throughout film and literature it has carried the experiences of queer and marginalised people. An example being, Interview with the vampire from 1994. Being other, Living at night in a queer temporality, that is hidden and dissolves by day, and an existence only possible through what is deemed immoral by those who fear the vampire, and much more.

This showing is part of HIMHERANDIT Productions and Warehouse9 residency initiative, supporting queer performance practice in Denmark. The residency focuses on supporting performance practices through a research and development framework, created around the organization’s festivals: The GenderHouse Queer Arts Festival by HIMHERANDIT Productions and IPAF by Warehouse9.
