DARIA KOVAL & MACIEJ KUZMINSKI COMPANY (UA/PL)

Resistance Movement

MAY 27TH & 28th 2024 - 21:00 & 21:15 (60 min)

PART OF THE GENDERHOUSE FESTIVAL

PLEASE NOTE: This short performance is shown together with "Atlas Da Boca" and is therefore part of the evening's programme. The ticket for "Atlas Da Boca" is therefore valid for both performances.

In Resistance Movement, Ukrainian dancer Daria Koval, alongside Polish choreographer Maciej Kuźmiński, transforms her war encounter into a potent performance. Originating from Dnipro and caught in Kyiv as war erupted, Koval confidently confronts and repurposes her pain into hope and resilience.

Venue: Bora Bora, Small Stage

In a 10-minutes solo “Resistance Movement”, a Ukrainian dancer Daria Koval documents her war experiences with powerful movement and fragile voice. The 27-year-old dancer Daria Koval comes from the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro. When the war began, she was in Kyiv. She thought she would never dance again. Now she dances about the war raging in Ukraine and hopes she can simply dance away the pain it leaves behind.

Resistance Movement was created by Daria Koval alongside internationally acclaimed Polish choreographer Maciej Kuzminski in October 2022 and has been already performed and awarded at several international choreographic competitions.
