Welcome to “Sanseporten” [The Gateway To The Senses]. Step into a wondrous world where the senses of animals are brought to life through dance and imagination.
“Sanseporten” is a poetic and playful dance performance that turns our world upside down. What is it like to be an animal that sees with its nose, tastes with its legs or navigates by invisible electrical signals?
Can you taste with your toes? What if your tongue could “smell” secrets in the air, just like a snake? Or if your feet could sense vibrations from a friend far, far away – just like an elephant? In this mysterious realm, nothing is as we know it. Here, we use our imagination to follow the animals’ very own logic.
The dancers invite the youngest explorers and their adults into a soft, safe and imaginative space that can be felt with the whole body. Inspired by the animal kingdom, we let our curiosity run free to find new ways of dancing and moving. It is an interactive, sensory playground where dance, light, sound, set design and costumes merge into a living, poetic performance that is constantly changing.
About Spine Fiction (DK)
SPINE FICTION is a dance company based in Copenhagen with a strong Nordic profile. The company is led by the two choreographers and dancers Julie Rasmussen (Norway/Denmark) and My Marie Nilsson (Sweden/Denmark), who together have many years’ experience of creating performing arts for and with children, young people and adults.
Julie and My have been collaborating for over 15 years, since their joint training at the National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen. Their artistic work draws on a broad spectrum of aesthetics and forms of expression, and they have both worked with institutions such as Teater Minsk, Åben Dans, the Royal Theatre, KORA, KUMULT, MYKA, Dansehallerne and Stands & Dans.
SPINE FICTION creates sensory, curious and thought-provoking performances in which the body, movement and visual expression take centre stage. The company works in a cross-aesthetic and experimental manner, focusing on audience engagement and presence, and places particular emphasis on meeting children and young people at eye level – with integrity and artistic ambition.
