The Grief Work Series

THE GRIEF WORK SERIES is a poetic and powerful five-part performance journey through loss, memory, and love. Created by Andreas Constantinou, it transforms personal grief into shared space for reflection, presence, and connection.

Step into the heart of grief – And discover the beauty within it

What if grief wasn’t something to hide from, but something to move through—together?

THE GRIEF WORK SERIES is not just a performance. It’s a journey told in five intimate and visually arresting chapters—each exploring a different facet of loss, memory, and the ways we carry those no longer with us. Created over five years by artist Andreas Constantinou, the series was born in 2021 after he lost both of his parents just five weeks apart.

His father died alone in a COVID-19 ward. Five weeks later, his mother passed away peacefully at home, his hand in hers. From this dual experience of death—one isolated, one surrounded by love—came urgent questions:

What does it mean to truly live? How do we face death? And how do we continue after loss?

These questions became the seed for THE GRIEF WORK SERIES—a five-part body of work that transforms personal sorrow into space for connection, presence, and reflection. From immersive and interactive installations to large-scale stage productions and site-specific performances co-created with local citizens, each chapter offers a distinct artistic experience—and a shared emotional landscape.

Now, for the first time, audiences can experience all five chapters of the series in one complete presentation, including the world premiere of the final chapter, Death Is Not the End—a site-specific performance inside Vor Frue Kirke in Aarhus, featuring six local citizens as performers. Rooted in community and shaped by its sacred surroundings, this final work invites contemplation of mortality, memory, and what lingers after goodbye.
At a time when grief is often hidden or hurried, this series creates room for it—honestly, poetically, and without shame. But these are not only works about loss. They are also about presence, about love, and about what it means to be alive.

As part of the program, audiences are also invited to a live conversation between Andreas Constantinou and psychologist Kristine Graudard, reflecting on the five-year journey behind the series and how grief, creativity, and human connection intersect.

Whether you come with a personal story of loss, or simply a curiosity for poetic, surreal, and atmospheric works that explore the depths of human existence, THE GRIEF WORK SERIES invites you in.

Come. Witness. Feel. Reflect.

This is for all of us.
