Foundation funding strengthens Bora Bora’s position as an international centre for dance
“We are both happy and proud of the strong support from committed foundations such as the Bikuben Foundation and the Nordic Culture Fund. We have already had an excellent collaboration on choreographic development for several years, and now it is Bora Bora’s development as a theatre and organisation that really gets a boost,” says Creative and executive director Lotte Kofod Ludvigsen.
Few theatre and visual arts institutions in the Nordic region are offered a so-called “task force” programme with the foundations every year. The collaboration with Bora Bora has a particular focus on strategic development of the organisation – with specific initiatives over the next two years.
“With the new foundation collaboration and the new strategy, we are in a strong position to ensure that dance in Aarhus is strengthened for the benefit of the entire city, the audience and the artists. Bora Bora’s new strategy will make us an even better dance centre with strong local roots and an ambitious artistic profile that invites even more people to experience dance,” says Lotte Kofod Ludvigsen.
In collaboration with the foundations and international experts, Bora Bora has undergone a strategy development process led by the consultancy firm In futurum, which has resulted in the foundations supporting five development initiatives over the next two years to strengthen Bora Bora.
“Our board, employees and house artists, as well as a large number of professionals in Bora Bora’s national and international network, have contributed with their important involvement in the process. This great support means that we can now strengthen Bora Bora – as the dance house the city and the world needs,” says Theatre Manager Lotte Kofod Ludvigsen.
The new strategy focuses on five areas:
Artistic profile
Bora Bora will strengthen its profile as an international centre for dance, presenting the best in dance and visual theatre from Denmark and the rest of the world.
Audience
Bora Bora will work to ensure that dance makes a difference in more people’s lives through an ambitious audience strategy.
Business development
Bora Bora will strengthen the business models in its four existing areas of activity: Stage, production house, residency centre and festival organiser.
Organisational development
Bora Bora must have an efficient organisation with a good sense of well-being and a strong community.
Talent, Communities and Health
Bora Bora will launch a new programme area with special initiatives for talents and professionals within dance, as well as develop cultural and health offers within dance.
