In an effort to change prejudices, brave Danes share their life stories and perspectives on living with the disease HIV. Home Queer Home is an installation and performative concept created by HIMHERANDIT
Productions. In collaboration with local communities, it works to create social engagement, empowerment and public awareness and consciousness of the themes and living conditions of marginalized groups, with a special focus on LGBTQIA+ communities.

On a huge rainbow floor, with a large mirror installation, the hall of the city hall is filled and becomes an artistic setting where the performers take a seat and share their testimonies. For the first time the Home Queer Home format is taken out of artistic institutions and into an institution of social and political power.

Where pointing out the disease HIV is a social political theme, a problem and life situation citizens live with, is given space to be said out loud and to
unfold in a setting where those who have the power to influence and improve the situation, are housed.
This year’s opening performance and the fourth edition of Home Quer Home – Positive Perspectives is created in collaboration with the AIDS Foundation, and originated from the foundation’s portrait series “Positive Portraits”, which can be experienced during the festival at Godsbanen.

About HIMHERANDIT Productions (DK)

HIMHERANDIT Productions was founded in 2003 by British-born artist Andreas Constantinou and has been based in Aarhus since 2009. In 2012, the company established a collaboration with Bora Bora, who co-produces the innovative and bold performances that range from contemporary dance, physical theater to “live art” performances.

HIMHERANDIT Productions is a reputable company that both the press, the audience and theaters nationally and internationally keep an eye on. With a reputation for being “The cutting edge queer performance company in Aarhus”, they have attracted the attention of several European theaters and festivals that have shown their performances around the world. In both 2015 and 2016, the company’s performances were chosen by the European network of dance theatres, Aerowaves, to be among the 20 most exciting new performances in Europe.

The company aims to create space for the marginalized, despised, diverse and queer, bringing important topics such as gender, sexuality and identity into focus. They do this both through performances, art installations, workshops, educational programs, research laboratories and artist lectures to promote social change through art.

The company has been behind performances such as “Champions”, “Mass Effect”, “WOMAN & WoMAN”, “GARDEN”, “The WOMANhouse”, “ReDoing GENDER” and “The MANhouse” as well as a number of others.

Last but not least, HIMHERANDIT Productions also organized The GENDERhouse Festival in Aarhus in 2018. The company has been nominated for four Reumert awards, most recently for “My Undying Love” in 2022, while the festival and Andreas Constantinou received the Aarhus Performing Arts Award “Applause of the Year” in 2018.

In 2022, the company created “Home Queer Home” for the opening of the Horsens Theater Festival. A combined performance and video installation featuring 100 young queer people from all over the country.
