Welcome to “Lumi” – the ethereal sphere of enchanting lights and mesmerizing dances. You and your child are invited to wander and explore, to drift among luminous objects responsive to touch and movement, to surrender to curious sensations, to enjoy the spellbound dance and music, to daydream …

The installation environment is designed to challenge conventional conception of aesthetics for babies. It proposes out-of-the-ordinary sensory experience and ambience, abundant with movement and contemporary dance. As audience you are free to move around, enjoy multiple perspectives, explore, be active and/or relax.

In order to respect the individual needs of both babies and adults, as well as the time needed for their experience, the audience is invited to enjoy the installation in the way it fits their personal needs – to arrive at the time which suits them the best and stay as long as they like to, within the hours of running time.

Suitable for ages 0 to 12 months.
This performance is made for the very young babies, before they start to walk and run around. Older babies are interested in other things.

The Šeiko Dance Company is comprised of theater professionals who work in the contemporary dance field creating dance and music performances, immersive theater, site-specific performances, promenade performances, dance education projects and theater laboratories. Having started their work in Klaipėda in 2012, these professional theater scene award winners have expanded their borders. The company has toured in many countries abroad including the USA, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Norway, Denmark, Russia, China, Iceland, Ukraine, Israel, and Bulgaria. Wherever they travel, the dancers speak the universal language of dance, unrestricted by any censorship of political, cultural, ethnic, religious or social boundaries.

Choreographer Dalija Acin Thelander is the absolute leader in the field of interactive dance for babies. “Fundamental to my motivation for creating for the youngest audience is the perception of the child as equal to an adult, worthy of meeting art in the early years. I believe that performances for the youngest audience should offer a valuable experience for both child and adult. ” With that in mind, she creates performances on the children’s terms. Therefore, one can come and go according to the needs of the child. It is the child who determines the pace of the experience, not the adults. We encourage all parents to go and explore LUMI with their babies.
